Small but powerful

Our last week in Latvia was incredible.

We started out the week on Sunday going to visit a local church here in the area.

It was such an amazing group of people that we met.

The pastor gave a really powerful message, I loved seeing how God was moving and working in that church.

We spent the rest of the day just as a group spending time together we took the afternoon and traveled 30 minutes by train to the Baltic sea.

I’m pretty sure none of us had ever been to the Baltic sea before so it was pretty exciting.

It was really a fun time of being in the sun and the water, enjoying each others company. I even got to share my testimony with the group on the beach.

Ministry in Latvia

Some of the ministry we were able to do our last week was working with a special needs community called "wings for wheels"

We got to spend time with them singing worship songs and doing performances and sharing some of our testimonies.

We also go to work with a homeless soup kitchen in a local church. Each Saturday morning they open their doors and have three different rounds of those in need of a hot meal come and sit down and eat. Almost like a little restaurant in the church. It was so much fun to be apart of and see how this local church was meeting the needs of the homeless community. There was so much left over soup and bread we even sent them away with containers full for later.

A birthday to remember.

The last week in Latvia was my 25th birthday and it was so fun to be able to celebrate it while out on the mission field.

I was showered in love from my team I am traveling with and they surprised me with food and gifts all day.

Starting from a breakfast of pancakes and ending with a surprise of decorations and homemade sushi for dinner! It was so incredible, I have never had so much sushi in my life. They had made three plates full and each for person 10 pieces each. (I felt so loved because I had been wanting to get sushi the whole time during the school in Paris)

It was also very personal for me to share my birthday with them because they are like my little family now.

God has even allowed me to be on the same team with my younger sister Emily and it was so nice to be together on my birthday.

Mission Days Conference

During our last weekend we got to attend a conference and ended up being able help them set it up working as volunteers.

It was so much fun to see SO many different ministries and churches around Latvia all attending.

We got to hear from many different speakers from places across the city and in YWAM. Some coming as far as Salem Oregon just to speak at the conference.

The whole topic on the conference was on missions and raising awareness in local churches with supporting missionaries. Here in Latvia many churches fear sending missionaries out and losing good members of their church, so this helped to break that stigma.

We had topics on “Finding your calling in missions” and “personalty traits in missions” “missions in different cultures” and even got to learn more on some historic stories of missionaries in Latvia.

We learned about some of the biggest draw backs for people going into missions.

Mostly comes down to

1, Fear of man. (Not feeling like you can do something without being judged for your actions. Feeling pressure to follow the norm of culture we live in.)

2, Finances. (Most people don’t go into missions because of lack of finances holding them back.)

We had speakers share stories of encouragement on the mission field.

Just how God truly wants to provide for us and take care of us even when we can only see the need right in front of us.

It's not always that if you are a missionary you are living in another country. It could be that you live in your home town and start a ministry there. Or connect with different social groups in the city and meet people and share about the gospel in building friendships with those friend groups.

I am reminded of one of my favorite verses in the bible when it comes to being in full time missions.

Matthew 6:25-26

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?

The whole conferences was really inspiring just to see what people are doing here in Latvia and how God is really truly at work in different ministries here in the city of Riga.

I love seeing the different ministries that people have started they are small but so powerful.

I was even able to get a glimpse of more of what God is calling me into.

Raising Support

I have been following after God's call in my life to share the love of who He is in the nations.

in doing so I have heard God speak to me about staying in missions full time for the next several years. I am looking to start raising support in finances, either one time donations or a monthly donation.
